Omnipotent
“I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you!” Ephesians 1:19 TPT
My three-year-old has bigger faith than me. At least, that is how it feels a lot of the time.
Since he was a babe, he has had really dry skin. It gets worse in the winter and seems like a minor case of eczema. Every night, we lotion him up with some type of ointment.
Ezra is pretty used to it, but there are nights where he has had enough. One night, as he was refusing treatment, I told him we could ask Jesus to heal his skin. That way, he wouldn’t have to apply creams so frequently.
My boy took me seriously.
For a few days nothing changed. Then one day, as we were about to apply lotion, he started screaming. (A very high pitched scream; in case you are wondering.)
“¡Mami, Jesús me sanó!”
(Mom, Jesus healed me!)
“ ¡De verdad, Mama! ¡Me sanó!”
(Truthfully, Mom! He healed me!)
Without even giving me time to respond, the kid ran to his dad and began shouting the same thing over and over.
“¡Mira, Mira! ¡Me sanó!”
(Look, Look! He healed me!)
(For all you moms out there, of course my heart turned into a little puddle…)
It was true. Jesus was healing him.
A week later, Ezra noticed a boo-boo on my foot. With confidence he said to me,
“No te preocupes mama, Jesús te va a sanar también.”
(Don’t worry mama, Jesus is going to heal you too.)
Everyday, he would check my foot and with joy declare,
“¡Mami, Jesús te está sanando!”
(Mami, Jesus is healing you!)
This is what happens when we encounter:
The Omnipotent.
The All Powerful:
God
Jesus
Holy Spirit
The Holy Trinity
When we experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power we become an advertisement of God’s immense power working through us.
We can’t contain it. We have to share it and we are bold enough to believe that the God who showed up for me will indeed show up for you.
Experiencing the power of God has that effect. It makes us go wild for Jesus. Our faith is increased and we can believe, not just for ourselves, but for others.
Just think about it.
Think of all the stories of people experiencing the power of Jesus and then running off like mad men (or women) in order to tell everyone the good news.
The Samaritan Woman (John 4)
Man with Leprosy (Mark 1)
Man who was Deaf (Mark 7)
These people needed others to know the power they too could find in Jesus.
Today, we need to see the same. Our world, our nations, our communities need to encounter the power of The Omnipotent. As the church, we should be experiencing it on the regular. We should be walking advertisements, displaying the immense power of Jesus in our lives.
This is what the world needs to see:
Jesus, who has complete power, unlimited power and is able to do anything. Jesus, who is supreme over all things on this earth and in all realms. Jesus, the ultimate authority and He who has the final say. Jesus, who is not surprised by the events in our world. Our bad news, can’t ruin His plans. Jesus is not thrown off by sudden changes. In fact, Jesus controls the course of our world and the world.
“Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings.” Daniel 2: 20-21 NLT
Jesus is The Omnipotent.
So, where do we start:
Trust the wisdom of Jesus Christ
Bring your worries, your cares and lay them at the feet of Jesus. Bring all of your requests to Him. Ask for His wisdom, direction and intervention. Then, when He gives it to you, trust Him and follow through with what He has asked you to do.
Believe in the power of Jesus Christ
Declare with your mouth that you believe in Jesus. Believe Him for big and small things. Even when you don’t feel it, be real with Him. Ask Him to help you with your unbelief and to increase your faith. Spend time in the word daily. Read encouraging testimonies and surround yourself with faith-filled believers.
Set up time and space to experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power.
Secret Place: this is time for you and Jesus to connect. As you are intentional with your time with Him, you will begin to encounter Him. He will speak to you through His word, prayer, worship, scripture reading and/or visions. Your most intimate encounters will be in this place. Treasure it and expect to encounter Jesus each time.
Community: some of the best encounters you will have are corporate encounters. It is a powerful thing to experience God together. To witness Jesus work in the same place, at the same time. Make time to gather and don’t forsake it. Find a local gathering where you can pray with a community, participate in a bible study or corporately worship together. At first, it may feel awkward, but as you develop relationships the people you gather with will become family. (Zoom can be a wonderful tool nowadays.)
Advertise God’s immense power working in you.
Once you experience the power of God in your life, share it. It’s interesting all the things we are comfortable sharing on social media, but when it comes to our faith we can become so timid. Remember, when you experience the power of God and share it with others it can fuel the faith of another to believe that they could experience the power of God too.
The faith needed is yours for the taking.
The opportunities to experience The Omnipotent awaits you.
Go get it, Go share it.
Until Next Time,
We Are Ecclesia
